John Tucker Must Die?

John Tucker Must Die -- Have you actually ever heard of this movie? Well, yeah, if you're a movie buff or someone who's watching the lives of celebrities, you probably have. But for someone not so interested in movies, I have to admit that I've never heard of John Tucker Must Die until my sister came home with a DVD copy of it.

I thought it was some kind of suspense thriller given the title. I thought wrong. Dead wrong.

It was another chick flick. I'm not a fan of chick flicks. I still watched in nonetheless and wasted like an hour and a half of my life watching girls get revenge from a guy who played them. Ah, don't take me wrong though. Just because I implied that it wasn't any good, my sister liked it. So buy the DVD (I made it easy for you and placed a link there.) and just see for yourself.

Oh but there were some parts that made me laugh. Like laugh, laugh... Not "laugh" because the whole movie is pointless. Did you just get that? I kinda confused myself there.

Anyway, the plot of John Tucker Must Die:

Meet John Tucker, a jock and the most popular guy in school. Everyone wants a piece of him and he wants a piece of every girl. So he just does that. He commits himself to three different girls at the same time (and from the same school) and tells them not to tell anyone because his parents are strict and doesn't want him to be in a relationship yet. Right.

So meet Kate, the invisible girl in school. No, not like the Fantastic 4 character, it's just that nobody knows her nor notices her. Anyway, when the three girlfriends find each other out, Kate "helps" them to get even with John Tucker. The three girls use Kate to make John Tucker fall in love and get his heart broken.

Okay, that isn't the rest of the story but I wouldn't wanna spoil it all for you, my dear readers. It gets pretty predictable, but that's just me. I tend to predict every event in these kinds of movies. So there. John Tucker Must Die isn't a mind-boggling movie. It's pretty simple and as I said, predictable, but the antics that these girls come up with are funny...especially during the early stages of their "John Tucker Must Die Plan".

It's really up to you if you want to watch it. I suggest that if you do want to watch, don't expect anything...if you're not into these chick flicks. If you are...then Happy Viewing!

What to do when everybody hates you

Everybody Hates Chris -- I'm sure everyone has their own favorite comedy shows that they can't get tired of watching, to the point where they actually get their jokes and quotes in the programs themselves.

I have a few favorites too. One of them is Everybody Hates Chris. I just like the whole concept of the show where the eldest child almost always gets the blame for everything that happens around him.

Everybody Hates Chris is a sitcom that reflects actor Chris Rock's own teenage experiences. Each episode is packed with Chris' day-to-day normal life adventures that is seemingly extraordinary to me as a viewer. Why? Because no matter how hard-headed and naughty I am, I can't get to as much trouble as Chris does in one day. And that amuses me a lot!

If this is the kind of childhood he had, and the kind of child he was, I'm sure that contributed a lot to how he is right now and why he is in the comedy business.

Although I also think that these things will only be funny if it happens to someone else and not to yourself. I mean, I wouldn't want to get blamed for anything at all! If you guys want a funny, inspiring and plain wacky sitcom to end that stressful day, watch Everybody Hates Chris.

Remembering Clarissa

Clarissa Explains It All -- If you watched Nickelodeon during the mid-90s, you must definitely know who Clarissa Darling is. If you don't, well she's a teenager who describes her day-to-day activities, problems and feelings in a fun and non-conventional way. Oh yeah, Clarissa is played by Melissa Joan Hart, of the Sabrina fame.

The show is very, very amusing and it doesn't get boring. Even re-runs still make me laugh. Clarissa is a light-hearted show that both kids and adults can relate to.

You Are Totally Clueless!

Clueless -- I remember my friend introducing Clueless to me because I was, and still am, a hair short of being clueless about chick-flicks. Surprisingly enough, I didn't get bored nor clueless while watching it. I even ended up watching the movie several times before returning the tape to my friend.

Clueless is about a 15-year-old Beverly Hills girl named Cher (Alicia Silverstone) who is known to be all about herself, shopping and boys. She is popular because of these, as well as her beauty and wealth, and she was happy with it until her ex-stepbrother, Josh, comes into the picture. He always teases her about being an airhead so she decides that she wants to be known for being an intelligent person and a do-gooder too.

She starts by hooking up two of her teachers and therefore escaping that C and turning it into an A that will make Cher's dad proud. Then she meets Tai, who looks like someone who just came from a farm. Cher decides that Tai will be her project. She changes Tai into someone who will be popular and true enough, Tai becomes popular...more popular than Cher. As with teenagers, this starts fights and all. Cher realizes that she's not that popular anymore and that she's in love with her ex-stepbrother, Josh.

Clueless, despite the fact that it came out on 1995, made famous a type of speech that is still used today. Words like "What-ever!", "Postal", "Like" and "Barf" were made popular by the movie and by the way it was used by Cher and her friends. A new type of trend was also introduced during that time that can still be seen these days. Also, the use of cellphones that was highlighted in the movie pushed the gadget into a state of necessity.

Alicia Silverstone gave justice to Cher's character and it really fit her well. The movie itself is lighthearted and funny. It isn't one of those generic teen movies today that all have the same plot and dry humor. You definitely won't go clueless with Clueless!

The Simple Life Isn't So Simple After All

The Simple Life -- Paris Hilton and Nicole Ritchie would definitely die if they were left alone without cash, credit cards, cellphone, cars and all those stuff that rich people have. How is that possible? If you watch their "reality tv" stint together, The Simple Life, you'll understand what I mean.

The Simple Life basically throws Paris and Nicole into different common jobs every episode. They have to do those jobs without the accessories that they use every single day (money and credit cards included). Their jobs vary from farm work to cleaning to working as fast food servers.

I always try to watch The Simple Life whenever I can, not because I'm a fan of Paris or Nicole or the Paris-Nicole tandem, but because it cracks me up and makes me realize how lucky I am not to be that pampered. Hehe watching rich people doing something that they weren't raised to do is funny.

If you don't mind watching two rich (some claim "intellectually challenged" - for the sake of political correctness) girls trying to do the work that us common people do, commit mistakes that only common children do, then by all means, watch The Simple Life and have a wheeeee! time in front of the TV.

Kung Pow - Enter the Fist: Steve Oedekerk (2002)

"I-It's bad.. It's..It's wrong.. It's...badong!"

Kung Pow -- I'm not really sure about the popularity of this movie because most of the people I ask about this aren't even aware of it.

Anyway, Kung Pow is one of the best martial art-parody movies ever! The movie stars Steve Oedekerk (yeah, try saying that 10 times as fast as you can). He's also Kung Pow's director and writer.

Kung Pow was taken from a 1977 Hong Kong action movie called Tiger and Crane Fist. It was dubbed to become a comedy and Oedekerk was inserted over the main character.

For the plot (don't worry, I won't reveal that much.. I'm too lazy to write the whole plot. Oh and I don't want to spoil your fun ^^): Oedekerk's character is known as "The Chosen One" - he is the Chosen One because of the face on his tongue (refer to picture). The Evil Empire wanted to get rid of Chosen One so they send a guy named Master Pain (and several henchmen) to kill Chosen and his family. As expected, Chosen survives.

So Chosen grows up and looks for the dojo of Master Tang. He finally finds it and takes refuge there. He meets Wimp Lo who swears to beat Chosen and Ling, a female resident of the dojo who fancies Chosen. Then Master Pain comes to town to visit the mayor and he shows off his strength. Oh and he also announces that he will change his name from Master Pain to Master Betty. He fails to recognize Chosen, but of course, as the story develops, they will face each other and encounter many, many, many deaths (and tons upon tons of laughter).

Okay.. That's my version of Kung Pow's summary. Overall, I'm giving Kung Pow a 10/10 rating. Why? Well, watch it and you'll see why (and you'll also see how knocked up my brain is). The bad dubbing, obvious CG, intended puns, hazy picture and weirdness all around contribute to the beauty of Kung Pow.

The Munsters

The Munsters was aired so long ago (1964 to be exact), it's doubtful that younger people would know them.

The Munsters -- A typical family living a typical life in Mockingbird Lane having the same joys and pains as other people do. Did I say people? I meant monsters. They have the same joys and pains as other monsters do.

What makes The Munsters funny is that they see themselves as normal as normal could be. They go through the same things as their neighbors do, except that their approach and outlook towards these aren't really the same as other people's. Well, they're weird because they're monsters. If you still haven't got the idea, think Addams Family, only subtler in the weirdness department but just as funny.

Meet the Munster Family:

• Herman Munster - One of Frankenstein's monsters and the father of the house. Frankenstein must have forgotten to put half of Herman's brain in before he was brought to life but despite that, he is a very kind, loving and trusting man.
• Lily Munster - Herman's wife and daughter of Grandpa Dracula, which makes of course makes her a vampire. She is a housewife who sees to it that her family is always happy. Although she is a good matriarch, she has trouble befriending other women from Mockingbird Lane.
• Grandpa - Grandpa is the original Dracula but his old age has left him with memory loss and the tendency to become unpredictable. He loves playing practical jokes and he spends his time in his lab concocting anything that he could think of.
• Eddie Munster - Eddie is Herman and Lily's only son. He is a half wolf, half vampire boy who loves Grandpa's practical jokes and always carries his Woof-Woof stuffed doll.
• Marilyn Munster - Marilyn is Lily's niece whom has lived with them since she was a baby. She doesn't look anything like a monster, instead, she has the all-American college girl look. She and her family feel sorry because she looks so different but they still love her nonetheless.
